Sample Pulpit Announcement
Today, I want to
discuss with you a very worthwhile prolife event called LIFE CHAIN.
As the issue of
abortion intensifies across America, we as Christians have a responsibility to
stand up for Gods precious gift of LIFE!
We must do it, though, in a God-honoring way, one which shows God as
sovereign over this highly divisive issue.
LIFE CHAIN is an event that is the perfect way for this to be
accomplished. A LIFE CHAIN brings to
mind such terms as: Safe, Peaceful, Prayerful,
Effective, and Legal.
From the beginning of
LIFE CHAIN in 1987 to the present, the LIFE CHAIN has proven to be a decisive
strategy for prolifers. Instead of the
faithful few hundred attending traditional prolife events, the LIFE CHAIN has
drawn thousands in many Life Chains across the country, including here in the
Miami Valley.
One of the beauties
of LIFE CHAIN is that it is simple! It
involves Gods people lining the sidewalks of our cities for a time of prayer
and bearing witness using 17 x 22 signs.
These signs have one of seven simple messages: Abortion Kills Children,
Abortion Hurts Women, Jesus Forgives and Heals, Adoption the Loving Option, Lord, Forgive Us and Our Nation, Life, the First Inalienable Right, and
Pray to End Abortion.
The statement of
these messages coupled with the repetition of thousands of Christians holding
identical signs spaced 10 feet apart, in essence, forming a chain through the
city, is profound. LIFE CHAIN is
Christians assembled in a prayerful, peaceful, and legal witness showing their
love and concern for the babies and mothers who are victims of abortion.
While the impact to
the community comes from the incredibly massive display along the LIFE CHAIN
route, the true power of LIFE CHAIN comes from the time of prayer by those who
participate. God has promised to heal
our land when we, His people, humble ourselves and pray to Him!
Life Chain 2001 will occur on Sunday, October 7, this year, from 2 3:30pm. This years Miami Valley Life Chain route will center around Haskells Abortion Clinic on Stroop Road.
In years past, the
Life Chain sought to connect the two open abortion clinics. God graciously answered the prayers of
people in the Miami Valley and perhaps throughout the Midwest, and now only one
abortion clinic remains open in the Dayton Area.
